Spirits or Ghosts Theories: Types of Hauntings

Residual and Intelligent are two of the most popular theories on spirits, ghosts and possible hauntings.

In residual haunting, psychic energy from ghosts is strong at the exact place where the person died which is brought about by a sudden emotional release. This scenario happens as a result of a painful happening such as disastrous accident and unexpected or sudden death. It could also be the result from cheerful circumstances such as a party and a play.

The energy of a sudden death seems to stay in a place where the event happened. The residual energy often gets detected by specific equipment or by individuals who are sensitive to this kind of energy. It could also be noticed by smell, sight, sound, touch or taste.

Similar to a tape in a video recording, the event in which a substantial outbreak of emotional energy happens is being recorded by the surroundings in a location. Theory is that psychic energy evidently consists of the fundamental character of a person's awareness, identity, intelligence, heart and soul, etc. and that it continues to exist. Intelligent hauntings can communicate, ask and answer queries, move items and perhaps touch.

So why do they stay around a certain environment? Theories for this kind of tendency range from unexpected and sudden death, having some “unfinished business”, affection for a living loved ones or residence. Intelligent hauntings have been known by use of different audio/visual devices, to obtain ghost videos and ghost noises, and several eyewitness reports.
